Chelsea has issued a firm statement following allegations that Enzo Fernandez sang a racist chant on Argentina’s team bus after their Copa America victory. The chant was reportedly directed at the French national team, drawing criticism from Wesley Fofana on social media.

Although Fernandez has since apologized, he faced further condemnation from striker Fofana, who posted a message emphasizing that racism “has no place in football.”

Fofana wrote: “The football that I like is multi-ethnic. Racism in all its forms should be condemned in the strongest possible terms. These acts have no place in football or even anywhere else. This fight really needs to be taken seriously by everyone involved in this sport.”

It is yet to be determined what disciplinary measures Chelsea will take against Fernandez upon his return from the Copa America, though a fine is likely. The Blues are scheduled to play Wrexham in a pre-season friendly on July 25.
