Mason Greenwood is nearing a move from Manchester United to Marseille. The two clubs have agreed on a transfer fee of £27 million, with an additional £3.2 million in add-ons and a significant 50% sell-on clause. Greenwood, who has verbally approved the transfer, will undergo a medical in France before the deal is finalized, according to David Ornstein.

Greenwood’s contract with Marseille will run until June 2029. The move comes after he impressed during a season-long loan at Getafe, where he scored 10 goals in 36 appearances and was named the club’s Player of the Season. Despite interest from several European clubs, Marseille secured his signature after fending off competition from Lazio.

However, the transfer has faced backlash from some Marseille fans and city mayor Benoit Payan due to past allegations of attempted rape and assault against Greenwood. The charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service last year, and Greenwood has denied any wrongdoing. Greenwood, who debuted for Manchester United in 2019, scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for the club. At Marseille, he will work under former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi.
