Milan is aiming to resume contract negotiations with star full-back Theo Hernandez after his return to the squad following France’s exit from EURO 2024 last week, as per reports from Italy.

The 26-year-old has been on vacation after featuring in all six of France’s matches during the summer tournament in Germany. He is expected to rejoin the Milan squad ahead of their final friendly against Barcelona in the United States at the start of August, though he will first undergo personalized training at Milanello before returning to full action.

Hernandez’s current contract with Milan runs until the summer of 2026, aligning with several other key players like goalkeeper Mike Maignan, also set to expire around the same time.

According to sources from Calciomercato.com and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan directors Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada are ready to reopen discussions with Hernandez for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Recent reports indicate that Milan might offer Hernandez a contract similar to that of their top earner, Rafael Leao, whose annual base salary is approximately €6.5m, whereas Hernandez presently earns around €4.5m under his current agreement.
