Chelsea has joined the race to sign Rennes wonderkid Desire Doue, rivaling Tottenham for the 19-year-old midfielder. The Frenchman has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. Bayern’s £30 million bid was rejected, with Rennes seeking £52 million for Doue, who will represent France at the Paris Olympics.

Both London clubs are keen to secure the 2022 European U17 champion, as they prepare for European football next season. Doue, who progressed swiftly through Rennes’ youth ranks, established himself in the first team, scoring four goals and providing five assists in 31 appearances this term. New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca sees Doue as a perfect addition to his revamped squad. Chelsea’s latest signing, Renato Veiga from FC Basel, joined for around £12 million.

Other recruits include Marc Guiu, Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kelyman, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Chelsea are also eyeing Nico Williams, Dani Olmo, and Karim Adeyemi, although no offers have been made yet. Additionally, the Blues are targeting Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez, who recently rejected a four-year contract extension with City.
