United have confirmed that Jonny Evans has agreed to a fresh one-year contract at Old Trafford, marking a surprising resurgence for the 36-year-old defender who became pivotal for the club last season. Returning as a temporary measure last summer due to injury setbacks, Evans ended up featuring in 30 matches across all competitions.

Throughout his comeback season, Evans exemplified professionalism, having previously departed in 2015. His tenure included securing the FA Cup, completing his collection of domestic trophies with the club.

Speaking on the club’s official platform, Evans expressed his joy: “I am delighted to have extended my contract at Manchester United for another season.”

“To play for this great club and feel the support from our incredible fans is always a privilege.”

“Returning to the club last season was an honour; representing the team on the pitch alongside fantastic team-mates under an excellent manager.”

“Winning the FA Cup together was an unforgettable experience; I know we can challenge for more trophies in the season ahead.”

United’s pre-season journey commences on July 15 with a friendly against Norwegian side Rosenborg. Subsequent fixtures include matches against Rangers, Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool ahead of the Community Shield clash against Manchester City on August 10.
