Negotiations between Bologna and Arsenal for Riccardo Calafiori are currently stalled. According to Sky Sport Italia, Bologna is demanding at least €50m and a sell-on clause. While Calafiori has agreed to personal terms with Arsenal, the two clubs have yet to finalize the transfer fee.
Sky Sport Italia’s transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio confirms Bologna’s asking price of €50m. Arsenal has made an offer of €40m plus €10m in add-ons, which partially matches this amount.
Sky Sport Italia reports that the talks are stalling because Bologna is attempting to increase the guaranteed amount and decrease the add-ons. They also want a sell-on clause included in the deal.
Calafiori’s former club, Basel, still retains a 40%-50% stake in his next sale. Currently, Arsenal is reluctant to include a similar clause for Bologna, but they remain the leading contender to sign the Italian international this summer.
Calafiori moved to Bologna from Basel for just €4m in 2023.
