Portuguese defender Nuno Tavares is poised to make a move from Arsenal to Lazio, as the Italian club has confirmed reaching an agreement with the Gunners. Meanwhile, negotiations continue regarding Mason Greenwood’s potential transfer from Manchester United.

Lazio director Angelo Mariano Fabiani announced the agreement at a press conference on Wednesday, stating, “Lazio has a strong interest and reached an agreement with Arsenal yesterday.” He added, “Now, we need to finalize terms with the player and his representatives. I’m very optimistic. Out of superstition, I won’t declare him a Lazio player yet, but the chances are high.”

Nuno Tavares recently returned to Arsenal after a loan spell at Nottingham Forest, where he appeared in 12 matches across all competitions during the 2023-24 season.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Lazio and Arsenal have agreed on a loan deal with an obligation to purchase for €7m-8m.

Fabiani also provided updates on Greenwood, following President Claudio Lotito’s earlier statement indicating Lazio’s interest in a player he described as “ten times better” than the Manchester United winger.

“We were already in talks last year and we are still in contact with Manchester United,” Fabiani explained. “There are tricky moves [from other clubs]. The fox eats the devil’s advice, and I am certainly not the devil.”

Meanwhile, Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille has made an initial offer for Greenwood, but the potential signing has faced criticism from both the club’s supporters and external commentators.
