Jobe Bellingham, 18, has decided to remain at Sunderland despite significant interest from Premier League clubs. The midfielder, younger brother of England star Jude Bellingham, joined Sunderland from Birmingham last summer.

He scored seven goals in 47 appearances across all competitions, attracting top-flight attention after Sunderland’s 16th-place finish in the Championship. Fabrizio Romano reports that Bellingham will stay at the Stadium of Light for at least one more season, despite Crystal Palace’s strong interest. The teenager trusts in Sunderland’s ambitious project as the club aims to end their eight-year Premier League absence. Following their relegation in 2017, Sunderland spent four seasons in League One before returning to the Championship two years ago.

The upcoming season will see Bellingham playing under new manager Regis Le Bris, who signed a three-year deal after leaving Lorient. Sunderland hopes to improve on last season’s bottom-half finish and push for promotion, following a play-off semi-final defeat to Luton in 2022/23.
