Alvaro Morata is Milan’s top target for their forward line, with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that the Rossoneri have offered the Spain captain a contract worth €4 million per year.
Milan have withdrawn from the pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee, focusing their efforts on Morata to bolster their attacking options.
During a press conference on Monday, Zlatan Ibrahimovic disclosed that Milan had identified ‘Mister X’ as their primary target up front, confirming that Morata is indeed the player they are pursuing, as per Gazzetta.
According to reports, Milan has proposed a three-year deal to Morata, valued at €4 million annually.
Morata currently has two years remaining on his Atletico Madrid contract, which includes a €13 million release clause that Milan is prepared to activate.
Both Ibrahimovic and Milan’s new coach, Paulo Fonseca, expressed confidence on Monday that a new striker would join San Siro soon, although they did not explicitly name Morata.
Meanwhile, Morata hinted in a recent interview with El Mundo that he is content away from Spain, suggesting his tenure with Atletico Madrid could conclude after the Euros.
