Diego Llorente has shared a heartfelt farewell message with Roma and its fans following his return to parent club Leeds United, marking the conclusion of an 18-month stint in Italy’s capital.
Expressing gratitude to the Giallorossi supporters for “allowing him to live the dream,” Llorente now considers himself an additional supporter of Roma. His journey began in January 2023 under the management of Jose Mourinho, initially on a six-month loan deal that was later extended for an entire additional season in the summer of 2023.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Llorente bid farewell to Roma, stating, “I can only say thank you, Roma! It has been an unforgettable year and a half, during which I’ve been truly happy and have come to understand what it means to be a Romanista.”
Wearing the Roma jersey, he described it as both a significant responsibility and a unique privilege. He concluded his message with a sense of fulfillment, having given his all for the badge with pride and honor.
Reflecting on his time at the Stadio Olimpico, Llorente fondly recalled the electric atmosphere of derby nights and the resounding chorus of over 70,000 fans singing the Roma anthem. He expressed deep appreciation to the fans for their unwavering support and to those who made his dream a reality.
“From now on,” he affirmed, “there will be one more Romanista supporting the team. Forza Roma!”
Llorente is now set to join Leeds United for pre-season training, where he remains contracted until the summer of 2026.
