Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Arsenal. The 22-year-old impressed in his major tournament debut for Italy this summer, making three appearances in the Euro 2024 group stages and playing on the left side of a back three.
His form attracted interest from several European clubs, including Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, but Arsenal are now in pole position to sign him. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that the Gunners have agreed to a five-year deal with Calafiori, worth £3.4 million per year. However, Arsenal has yet to reach an agreement with his current club, Bologna.
Reports suggest Bologna rejected an initial bid of around £40 million, as they have set a price tag of £42 million due to a significant sell-on clause. Bologna signed Calafiori from FC Basel last summer for just £4.2 million, with Basel entitled to 50 percent of the transfer fee. Last season, Calafiori made 37 appearances for Bologna, scoring two goals and providing five assists.
