Reports from Italy suggest that Leicester City, a Premier League team, is close to finalizing a deal to sign Caleb Okoli, a centre-back from Atalanta who recently completed a loan spell at Frosinone.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City is nearing an agreement to acquire the 22-year-old defender, who has returned to Atalanta after his loan stint.
Di Marzio mentioned on X, previously on Twitter, that Atalanta stands to receive €15 million, inclusive of potential add-ons, from Leicester City for Okoli’s transfer.
Okoli, an U21 international for Italy with 14 appearances for their youth teams, developed through the academies of Atalanta and Vincenza. He played extensively last season on loan at Frosinone, featuring in 37 matches across various competitions.
Meanwhile, Atalanta is also busy with negotiations to secure Nicolò Zaniolo, formerly of Aston Villa, from Galatasaray on loan with an option to buy. Zaniolo underwent medical examinations on Thursday morning and is expected to finalize his move soon at the club’s headquarters.
