Luke Shaw “Ready” for action ahead of England’s quarter-final

Luke Shaw, the only natural left-back in Gareth Southgate's team, is "ready" for action after participating fully in England's training session. Despite not playing in the Euros due to a muscle injury, Shaw trained alongside the entire squad. John Stones, the Manchester City defender, also trained fully, despite heavy strapping on his knee. Southgate is considering a back three formation for the match against Switzerland.

Luke Shaw is reportedly “ready” for action after participating fully in England’s training session. Despite not playing a minute in the Euros due to a muscle injury that has sidelined him since February, Shaw, 28, trained alongside the entire 25-member squad. However, he is not expected to start in Saturday’s quarter-final against Switzerland.

Despite being the only natural left-back in Gareth Southgate’s team. Shaw opted out of a scheduled media appearance, preferring to speak publicly post-return to action. John Stones also trained fully, though with heavy strapping on his right knee. The Manchester City defender, 30, has played every minute of England’s matches this summer despite an ankle injury in a warm-up game and a subsequent bout of sickness. Stones was seen with a strapped leg after Sunday’s win over Slovakia and during training.

Southgate is considering a switch to a back three for the match against Switzerland, a formation the team trained in for the first time today. Teammate Ivan Toney, who replaced Shaw in the press conference, remarked on Shaw’s readiness, jokingly referring to himself as a “professional sub.”
