Fulham has finalized an agreement to sell Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich for a club-record fee of £47.5 million. The deal consists of £43 million upfront and an additional £4.5 million in add-ons, surpassing the previous record sale of Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al-Hilal for £44 million last year.
Bayern Munich had nearly signed the Portuguese midfielder last summer, but the transfer fell through at the last moment. This time, Bayern has agreed on personal terms with Palhinha, who will soon undergo a medical examination with the club. Last summer, Palhinha completed a medical and posed with a Bayern shirt before Fulham pulled out due to the lack of a replacement.
Manchester United had shown interest in intercepting Bayern’s move for Palhinha. With the transfer now set, United might turn their attention to Bayern defender Matthijs de Ligt. Palhinha, 28, played 33 games for Fulham last season and has been a key player for Portugal in Euro 2024.
