Shortly after Kylian Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid was confirmed, his younger brother Ethan shared an emotional farewell to PSG as his contract ended. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 17-year-old is expected to join Lille soon on a free transfer.
Ethan Mbappe began his journey with PSG in 2017 at the age of 10, spending seven years with the French club. Although he made five appearances for the first team, he often found himself overshadowed by his elder brother, Kylian. Now, with Kylian in Madrid and Ethan seemingly headed to Lille, the younger Mbappe has the opportunity to build his own career without comparisons to the 2018 French World Cup winner.
After departing PSG, Ethan expressed his sentiments on social media: “With the heart of a child and a lifelong supporter, I first discovered you with dreams in my eyes. That was nearly seven years ago, and I never imagined the incredible adventure we would share. These seven years have been filled with red and blue, marking my daily life and heart.
“Seven years of encounters that have left an indelible mark on me. Seven years of priceless human and sporting memories. From the carefree days of childhood to my first steps as a professional, you laid the best foundations for the man and player I aspire to become. For everything you’ve given me, for all the wonderful people you’ve put in my path and for the way you’ve helped me grow, on behalf of my sincere love for you, I say thank you and goodbye @psg ❤️💙.”
Previously linked with Real Madrid earlier this year, Ethan is now poised to sign a long-term contract with Lille. He will join his new teammates for pre-season training this month and may participate in friendly matches against Deinze, Mechelen, Gent, Genk, and Wolfsburg in the coming weeks.
