ITV presenter Laura Woods kept her composure while being swarmed by midges during England’s Euro 2024 clash against Slovakia. Reporting from the pitch in Gelsenkirchen, Woods, 36, provided coverage alongside Karen Carney.

Despite the insects, Woods described the vibrant atmosphere: “Vindaloo’s been playing in the background, we’re getting attacked by midges as well. But I have to say, the atmosphere in the stadium has really lifted now, Kaz.” Before the match, England faced a scare when goalkeeper Jordan Pickford appeared to injure his left wrist during the warm-up. Grimacing in pain, Pickford spoke to a physio and received support from deputy Aaron Ramsdale. Despite the incident, Pickford started the match.

England overcame a first-half deficit, with Ivan Schranz giving Slovakia the lead. Jude Bellingham equalized deep into stoppage time with a spectacular overhead kick. Harry Kane’s header in extra time secured a 2-1 victory for the Three Lions, who will now face Switzerland on Saturday.
