Juventus is set to finalize the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz after he cleared medical tests conducted in the USA, where he is currently participating in the Copa America with Brazil. According to reporter Romeo Agresti, Juventus plans to officially announce Luiz’s acquisition by the weekend.
The deal involves a significant swap between Juventus and Aston Villa, with Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Junior moving to Villa Park in exchange for Douglas Luiz and €25 million going to the English club. Both Barrenechea and Iling-Junior have already completed medical examinations with Aston Villa.
Douglas Luiz, 26, enjoyed a productive season with Aston Villa in 2023-24, tallying ten goals and ten assists in 53 appearances across various competitions. His transfer marks one of Juventus’ initial moves under new manager Thiago Motta, alongside goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio from Monza.
Iling-Junior contributed one goal in 27 appearances for Juventus, while Barrenechea spent the previous season on loan at Frosinone.
