[With the Three Lions struggling through the group stage at Euro 2024, Gareth Southgate is having difficulty finding an effective system. Some have suggested that Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham should be moved to a deeper role alongside Declan Rice.

This change would allow Manchester City’s Premier League Player of the Year, Phil Foden, to play as a No. 10 and introduce more pace and creativity on the wings through Anthony Gordon or Cole Palmer. However, Paul Scholes is not on board with this idea.

The United legend, who earned 66 caps for England, expressed his views on social media: “[Kobbie] Mainoo will make you play, Foden and Bellingham will win you games, think forward and take less touches pls Dec. Laters.”

Scholes added: “Keep hearing drop Bellingham back next to Rice… piss right off!”

He didn’t stop there and commented on the idea of Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka being moved to left-back – where Luke Shaw is injured and Kieran Trippier has not impressed: “These Arsenal legends suggesting Saka at left-back because they’re scared he’ll be benched for Palmer are making me laugh.”

Big selection decisions now rest with Southgate as he considers reshuffling his lineup for the knockout stage. England, who topped their group and have a favorable draw, will face Slovakia in the last-16 on Sunday.]
