According to L’Equipe, Manchester United recently made a formal offer for the Uruguayan player, but it was rejected by PSG. Ugarte, who turned down Chelsea last summer to join PSG, fell out of favor with manager Luis Enrique and only made 25 appearances in Ligue 1 during the 2023-24 season, contributing three assists.
Despite the initial rejection, reports indicate that PSG is open to selling Ugarte after just one season, which could prompt Manchester United to submit a revised bid soon.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS group, who took over the team earlier this year, are focused on rebuilding the squad, particularly strengthening the midfield. With the potential departure of Brazilian star Casemiro, Ugarte could be a key addition to the team.
The 23-year-old Ugarte was in the starting lineup on Tuesday as Uruguay began their Copa America 2024 campaign. He is set to play again for his national team on Friday against Bolivia.
