Manchester United have reportedly turned down a transfer offer from Lazio for Mason Greenwood. The Serie A club proposed a £20 million package, including a 50% sell-on clause, for the 22-year-old forward. However, United rejected the offer, as they are holding out for a £30 million fee.
Greenwood, who spent last season on loan at Getafe, scored ten goals and provided six assists in 36 appearances across all competitions. Lazio aims to replace ex-West Ham star Felipe Anderson and has been in negotiations with Greenwood.
While Lazio is not the only interested club, with Juventus, Valencia, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid also linked to Greenwood, Juventus has reportedly shifted their focus to Jadon Sancho. Valencia allegedly made a “concrete” £25 million offer, and Getafe’s president, Angel Torres, suggested the possibility of another loan for Greenwood.
Greenwood has one year remaining on his contract with Manchester United. He has not played for the club since his arrest in January 2022 on suspicion of rape and assault. All charges were dropped in February 2023, allowing Greenwood to resume his career on loan at Getafe.
