Tottenham Hotspur are negotiating a swap deal with Southampton, proposing to exchange Joe Rodon for Carlos Alcaraz. Spurs aim to offload the £10 million-rated Welsh center-half, who recently returned from a loan spell at Leeds United. They are also keen on Argentine midfielder Alcaraz, who had a brief stint at Juventus last season.

Alcaraz, 21, joined Southampton from Racing Club for £12 million in January 2023 but prefers not to play in the Championship. During his loan in Italy, he made 12 appearances and provided one assist. However, the clubs need to reconcile valuations as Alcaraz is valued at around £30 million. In addition to Alcaraz, Spurs are interested in signing Manchester City outcast Yan Couto. The wing-back impressed at Girona last season, helping them qualify for the Champions League. Tottenham sees him as a potential replacement for Emerson Royal.

Another target for Spurs is Leeds prospect Archie Gray, who enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Championship. The midfielder is rated at £20 million and has attracted interest from Liverpool. Meanwhile, Southampton are seeking a new goalkeeper and have their sights on Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson, valued at £15-£20 million.
