Bayern Munich were able to outmaneuver Chelsea in the transfer market due to Olise’s release clause. This clause could only be triggered by clubs participating in the Champions League, allowing Bayern to move ahead of the Blues. Chelsea, unable to finalize a deal with Crystal Palace, ultimately missed out on Olise.
In response to missing out on Olise, Chelsea have turned their attention to securing other young talents. They are close to finalizing the signing of Aston Villa’s Omari Kellyman for £19 million ($24 million), with Ian Maatsen potentially moving in the opposite direction for £37.5 million ($47 million).
Chelsea’s pre-season preparations for a new era under Enzo Maresca will kick off next month. Their first match on their USA tour will be against Wrexham on July 24, followed by games against Celtic, Club America, Manchester City, and Real Madrid.
