Mykhailo Mudryk left fans stunned with what many are calling the “worst shot you’ll ever see” during Ukraine’s Euro 2024 clash against Slovakia. The Chelsea winger started in Ukraine’s second match at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf on Friday afternoon. Ukraine was already trailing after Ivan Schranz’s goal and pushing for an equalizer. Mudryk collected the ball at the halfway line and drove at the retreating Slovak defense.
Despite having options on either side, the 23-year-old chose to shoot from around 25 yards. The effort, however, sailed high and wide into the stands, leaving Mudryk looking sheepish. Despite his misfire, Ukraine managed a second-half comeback. Mykola Shaparenko’s equalizer was followed by Roman Yaremchuk’s winning goal ten minutes before the end. This 2-1 victory boosts Ukraine’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stage. Sergei Rebrov’s side, who lost their opening match to Romania, will conclude their group campaign against Belgium on Wednesday.
