France manager Didier Deschamps has revealed that Kylian Mbappe might be available for tomorrow’s match against the Netherlands despite suffering a broken nose. Mbappe was forced off during Monday’s 1-0 win over Austria after colliding with Kevin Danso, leading to his immediate hospitalization where the injury was confirmed.
Initially, it was suggested that Mbappe would miss the upcoming game, but Deschamps confirmed his potential availability, stating, “I can confirm that Kylian Mbappe is feeling better and all is evolving well to see him available for tomorrow. It’s moving in the right direction.” Despite the severity of Mbappe’s injury, teammate Antoine Griezmann joked about it during a press conference, noting, “He’s very well, his nose is a little deflated!”
Mbappe will now wear a protective mask for the remainder of the tournament and was seen in training on Thursday with a specially made mask painted like the France flag. He is set to have surgery on his nose after Euro 2024. Danso apologized to French supporters on social media, expressing regret over the injury caused to Mbappe, and wishing him a speedy recovery.
