Romelu Lukaku, sidelined by Chelsea, is delaying discussions with Saudi Arabian clubs as he anticipates a potential transfer to Napoli.
The 31-year-old Belgian striker, who impressed during the 2023-24 season on loan at Roma with 21 goals and four assists in 47 appearances in Serie A, returned to Chelsea this month as his loan did not include a purchase option.
Chelsea are keen to offload Lukaku permanently this summer and have set an asking price of around €43 million for the forward. With Antonio Conte now managing Napoli, a move to the Italian club has become a viable option.
According to today’s Tuttosport (Page 35), Lukaku is currently holding off on negotiations with interested Saudi Arabian clubs while he waits to see if Napoli can strike a deal with Chelsea, driven by his desire to reunite with Conte.
Meanwhile, Napoli have also shown interest in Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, Girona’s Artem Dovbyk, and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, seeking to gather information about these potential alternatives.
