Farhad Moshiri is on the verge of finalizing an £800 million takeover of Everton by Roma owner Dan Friedkin. An exclusivity period for Friedkin to complete due diligence could be announced imminently. Friedkin, worth £4.8 billion, has outbid Vici Private Finance, agreeing to Moshiri’s demand for £200 million upfront to examine the club’s finances.

However, some Everton fans are skeptical about Friedkin, who previously described Everton as “the second club in Liverpool.” Despite this, Everton’s dire financial situation, with nearly £600 million in debts and additional funds needed to complete the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, makes the takeover critical. Everton faces potential administration and further points deductions due to financial losses.

Manchester United’s £35 million bid for Jarrad Branthwaite was rejected, but more player sales may be necessary. While Friedkin’s takeover won’t prevent immediate financial measures, it offers hope for stability after recent relegation scares. Moshiri, who owns 94.1% of Everton, will leave without recouping his £450 million in shareholder loans.
