Atletico Madrid have reportedly turned down Chelsea’s £34 million bid for striker Samu Omorodion. Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, is keen to bolster his attacking options for the 2024-25 campaign and has identified Omorodion, 20, as a top target.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Chelsea’s offer, including add-ons, was rejected by the La Liga club, which intends to keep the young forward beyond the summer. Omorodion spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Alaves, where he scored nine goals in 36 appearances. He began his professional career with Granada before moving to Atletico Madrid last August. Despite Chelsea’s interest, Atletico is determined to retain Omorodion.
If unable to secure Omorodion, Chelsea may pursue a move for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran. However, Villa might only agree to a transfer if they can acquire Conor Gallagher or Ian Maatsen in exchange. Villa’s manager, Unai Emery, preparing for a Champions League campaign, is reluctant to lose Duran and believes in his unlimited potential.
