Inter President Beppe Marotta confirmed that negotiations for a contract extension with Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez are nearing completion. He also expressed confidence that coach Simone Inzaghi’s extension will follow closely.

Marotta, who visited Italy’s EURO 2024 training base at Casa Azzurri on Sunday, discussed various topics with reporters following Inter’s 2-1 victory over Albania in Dortmund on Saturday.

Among the highlights, Marotta emphasized the growing influence of Nicolo Barella at both club and national levels. He also underscored the idea that the national team should serve as a unifying force for all Serie A clubs.

Regarding contract talks back in San Siro, Marotta provided updates on key figures Martinez, who finished as the top scorer in the 2023-24 season, and coach Inzaghi.

Marotta disclosed that Martinez’s contract renewal is nearly finalized, pending only his signature. He acknowledged the logistical challenge of finalizing the deal while Martinez is in Argentina but assured that all essential terms are agreed upon.

Similarly, Marotta indicated that negotiations with Inzaghi are progressing positively and suggested that an agreement is close to being reached.

“We are attentive to everything. The important thing is that every player feels a strong sense of belonging, that he wants to continue and experience things with us. We have a calm situation, we don’t have any players who want to free themselves at the moment,” Marotta stated, as reported by TMW.
