Since joining Manchester City in 2016, Pep Guardiola has built a footballing empire, but this era might be nearing its end as the Spaniard reportedly eyes his next venture and is not planning to renew his contract. In response, City has devised a strategy to keep him beyond the summer of 2025, spearheaded by Sheikh Mansour.

According to The Mirror, Guardiola recently visited Abu Dhabi to meet with Sheikh Mansour at his residence. Guardiola’s current contract with City expires on June 30, 2025, just two weeks before the new FIFA Club World Cup format begins. The club hopes that the chance to lead his team in this tournament will entice the 53-year-old to stay. Additionally, City is prepared to significantly increase Guardiola’s current £20 million-a-year ($25.3 million) salary.

There is an internal belief at the club that if Guardiola decides to leave the Etihad, their Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, might also depart. However, Sheikh Mansour and CEO Khaldoon Al Mubarak are committed to doing everything possible to retain both.

Regardless of the outcome in the summer of 2025, Guardiola is focused on preparing his team for another season, aiming to secure their fifth consecutive Premier League title and their second Champions League trophy.
