Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is enjoying a luxurious holiday in Turkey after missing out on Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024. The 31-year-old was left heartbroken after being omitted from the 26-man squad due to a lingering calf injury. Maguire, who has 63 caps, has been nursing the issue since April and was unable to fully recover in time.
Expressing his disappointment on X, Maguire wrote, “I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer. Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome an injury to my calf. Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted.” Before returning to Manchester United for further recovery, Maguire has been spotted at the Maxx Royal Belek resort, a five-star golf and spa hotel in Belek, Turkey. The resort offers deluxe accommodation costing up to £6,400 per night.
A holiday-goer described Maguire as “relaxed” and “in very good spirits,” according to the Daily Mail. Maguire is among seven players who missed out on the European Championships, including James Maddison, Jack Grealish, and Curtis Jones. Grealish is also enjoying a break in Dubai as he prepares to support the Three Lions in Germany.
