Manchester United has officially announced a £50 million ($63.5m) investment in renovating their renowned Carrington training ground, following its acquisition by INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Renovation work is scheduled to commence on Monday, June 17, continuing throughout the 2024–2025 season. According to the announcement, the initial focus will be on upgrading the gym, medical, nutrition, and recovery areas to ensure they are operational by the start of the season.

The renovation project will be led by Foster + Partners, under the guidance of Manchester-born Lord Norman Foster. Foster + Partners, renowned for their work on projects like the Wembley Stadium redesign and Qatar’s Lusail Stadium for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, brings extensive expertise to this project.

In an official statement, Sir Jim Ratcliffe remarked, “We want to create a world-class environment for our teams to win. When we conducted a thorough review of the Carrington training facilities and met with our men’s first-team players, it was clear the standards had fallen below some of our peers. This project will ensure Manchester United’s training ground is once more renovated to the highest standards.”

Lord Foster, reflecting on the project, added, “We are delighted to lead the renewal of Manchester United’s training facility in Carrington. Our aim is to modernise and revitalise the building as a catalyst for future footballing success, creating spaces that inspire a culture of collaboration, unity and belonging.”

The renovations are anticipated to continue throughout the 2024-25 season, with temporary accommodations planned to ensure uninterrupted operations for players and staff during this period.
