The forward from AC Milan, coming off a career-best season in scoring for his club, found the net for his national team in their recent friendly. Pulisic equalized after Real Madrid’s Rodrygo opened the scoring, securing a morale-boosting 1-1 draw against South American opponents.

His goal, a low free-kick, marked his first successful set-piece conversion at the international level and the first conceded by Brazil since Luis Suarez of Inter Miami scored from a dead-ball situation in 2021. At 25 years old, Pulisic earned his 68th cap against Brazil and is now just one goal shy of Brian McBride’s record on the USMNT’s all-time scoring chart.

Pulisic also resumed captaincy duties in his latest outing, marking his 23rd time leading the team. His captaincy record of 16 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses ties him for eighth place with Thomas Dooley.

Gregg Berhalter faces the decision of whether to retain Pulisic as captain or assign the role to someone else ahead of the upcoming Copa America hosted at home. The United States will kick off their campaign in the continental tournament against Bolivia on June 23rd.
