Initially, Bayern aimed to sign Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen. However, negotiations have stalled, leading Bayern to consider Colwill as an alternative. Chelsea, who could benefit financially from selling Colwill due to his status as a youth academy graduate, might see this as an opportunity to address any Financial Fair Play concerns.
Colwill demonstrated his potential during a loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion in the 2022/23 season, making 22 appearances and helping the Seagulls qualify for the Europa League. Since returning to Chelsea, he has been a regular in the first team, often playing at left-back.
