Juventus edging closer to Douglas Luiz transfer following fresh talks with Aston Villa

According to Sky Sport Italia, Douglas Luiz is on the verge of joining Juventus following a recent series of negotiations between the Italian giants and Aston Villa.

The Brazilian midfielder is poised to make the switch to Juventus in a deal involving a combination of cash and players, with Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior potentially heading to Aston Villa in exchange.

Gianluca Di Marzio, a reputable transfer expert, suggests that both parties are nearing an agreement after engaging in fresh talks.

Initially, Aston Villa had set their asking price at €20m along with the inclusion of McKennie and Iling-Junior. However, it’s reported that Juventus is close to securing the deal for approximately €18m, along with the two players mentioned.

Aston Villa faces pressure to balance their financial books by June 30 to adhere to financial regulations and avoid potential penalties in the Premier League. Consequently, despite Douglas Luiz’s impressive performance with ten goals and ten assists during the 2023-24 season, the club is eager to finalize his transfer.

Weston McKennie, a notable figure in the USMNT, has prior experience in England, having spent a loan spell with Leeds United in the latter half of the 2022-23 season. According to Sky Sport, McKennie has already come to terms with Aston Villa regarding his potential move.

Meanwhile, Samuel Iling-Junior, a product of Chelsea’s youth system, is reportedly enthusiastic about the prospect of joining Aston Villa as part of this deal, as stated by Fabrizio Romano.
