UTA (United Talent Agency) has acquired ROOF (Representatives Of Outstanding Footballers), expanding its global influence by stepping into the soccer market. This acquisition places the management of football stars like Virgil van Dijk and Kai Havertz under the same umbrella as LeBron James and other top basketball players.

In recent years, UTA’s sports portfolio has been dominated by KLUTCH, which represents basketball legend LeBron James and has secured $4 billion in contracts for its clients across the NBA, WNBA, NFL, and MLB. With the acquisition, UTA announced that ROOF will merge with KLUTCH to “reimagine the representation landscape for the new generation of top football stars,” while maintaining its own name and founding leadership. Currently, ROOF manages about 130 players and 20 coaches across Europe’s top five leagues, but aims to expand internationally beyond its bases in London, Madrid, and Munich.

Besides Van Dijk and Havertz, ROOF also represents top players like Sadio Mane, Serge Gnabry, Harvey Elliott, and Europa League final hero Ademola Lookman.

The timing of the acquisition is notable for Van Dijk, who is nearing 33 and entering the final year of his contract with Liverpool amid uncertainty about his future, especially with Jurgen Klopp’s departure on the horizon.
