Usain Bolt has revealed he ruptured his Achilles after sustaining a horror injury at Stamford Bridge during Soccer Aid. The world’s fastest man was stretchered off after playing for the World XI against England in the charity event, which raised over £100 million for Unicef. The 37-year-old Jamaican, who began the game up front before switching to center-back, injured himself while attempting to tackle Jermain Defoe.

Bolt appeared to roll his ankle or get his foot stuck in the turf, immediately going to the ground. Defoe capitalized, scoring to make it 4-2. Bolt received medical attention and was carried off with his leg in a splint. He later confirmed the injury on social media, posting a photo with his leg in a moon boot and holding crutches, stating, “Ruptured Achilles but done know we a warrior.”

Despite his injury, Bolt earlier provided a superb assist for Alessandro Del Piero’s goal. The match ended with England winning 6-3, ending their five-match losing streak. Steven Bartlett, Joe Cole, Defoe, Theo Walcott, and Ellen White scored for England, while Eden Hazard, Billy Wingrove, and Del Piero scored for the World XI.
