According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle, also known as the Magpies, has made a bid of £16 million ($20.3m) to Burnley in hopes of securing the services of a promising goalkeeper who began his career with Manchester City. However, reports suggest that Burnley intends to hold out for a higher fee, aiming for around £20 million ($25.4m) for the 21-year-old talent.
In addition to Newcastle’s interest, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich have all expressed interest in the goalkeeper. They seek to bolster their goalkeeping options and invest in future prospects. Eddie Howe, the manager at St. James’ Park, reportedly holds a strong admiration for the goalkeeper, who amassed 28 appearances in the Premier League for Burnley in the previous season.
Previously, Newcastle had shown interest in Aaron Ramsdale, the goalkeeper from Arsenal and England. However, they were deterred by Arsenal’s steep valuation of the 26-year-old, prompting them to shift their focus to the goalkeeper from Burnley.
Despite not being included in Gareth Southgate’s final squad for the Euros, the deal with the goalkeeper from Burnley, named Trafford, could be swiftly finalized by Newcastle, without waiting for the conclusion of the tournament.
