According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma has expressed interest in acquiring Napoli winger Matteo Politano.

Roma is actively seeking to bolster their attacking lineup for the upcoming season, with Politano identified as one of their prime targets by Gazzetta.

Daniele De Rossi, who has previously collaborated with Politano during his tenure as Roberto Mancini’s assistant for the Italian national team, holds a high regard for the 30-year-old winger.

The report suggests that Roma is open to offers for Nicola Zalewski, indicating that his potential departure could pave the way for Politano’s arrival at the club.

While discussions between Roma and Politano’s representatives have yet to commence, the genuine interest displayed by Roma implies that negotiations could initiate soon.

Politano, who initially emerged from the Roma youth academy, nearly returned to Stadio Olimpico in January 2020 as part of a swap deal involving Leonardo Spinazzola. Although the deal fell through due to concerns over Spinazzola’s fitness, Roma is expected to make renewed efforts to secure Politano’s services in the coming weeks.

In the 2023-24 season, Politano showcased his prowess with nine goals and ten assists in 48 appearances for Napoli. His current contract with the Stadio Maradona outfit is set to expire in June 2027.
