Graham Potter, 49, is reportedly in discussions over a potential return to the Premier League. The former Chelsea manager has been out of work since leaving the club last April. During his hiatus, Potter turned down proposals from Leicester, Lyon, Sweden, and Ajax, waiting for the right opportunity.

According to The Guardian, Brighton is now considering re-appointing Potter. The Seagulls have initiated talks with him despite his controversial departure in September 2022 when he left to become Chelsea’s boss following Thomas Tuchel’s dismissal. Potter’s stint at Stamford Bridge lasted only seven months. Brighton’s chief Tony Bloom and technical director David Weir are leading the recruitment process, gauging Potter’s interest. Potter had a mixed record during his three years with Brighton, achieving 43 wins, 43 draws, and 48 defeats. His successor, Roberto De Zerbi, led Brighton to their highest-ever Premier League finish and Europa League qualification but struggled this season, resulting in an 11th-place finish and his subsequent departure.

Brighton initially targeted Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna, who recently extended his contract. Now, they are also considering 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler and Swedish manager Henrik Rydstrom. However, Potter faces competition from Manchester United, who are also reportedly interested in his services.
