Bologna has officially announced the appointment of Vincenzo Italiano as their new head coach. Italiano has inked a two-year deal with Bologna and will take over from Thiago Motta at the Stadio Dall’Ara. He will lead the team in their inaugural Champions League campaign since 1965, back when it was known as the European Cup.

In their official statement, Bologna FC 1909 confirmed Italiano’s arrival, stating, “Bologna FC 1909 can confirm the appointment of Vicenzo Italiano as the new head coach of the Men’s First Team. He has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2026.”

Italiano, born in Karlsruhe (Germany) on 10/12/1977, has previously coached at Trapani, Spezia, and Fiorentina. His coaching journey includes promotion from Serie C and Serie B, securing Europa Conference League qualification twice, reaching the final both times, and making it to one Coppa Italia final. Italiano will hold his first press conference as Bologna boss in the upcoming week.

Following the conclusion of the season’s last game against Atalanta, Italiano departed Fiorentina and has been succeeded by Raffaele Palladino at the Stadio Franchi. Meanwhile, Thiago Motta, Italiano’s predecessor, is anticipated to finalize a deal with Juventus in the near future.
