The Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund at Wembley was disrupted early on by three pitch invaders, reportedly incentivized by controversial Russian streamer Andrey Burim. Each invader was promised £300,000 to storm the pitch wearing shirts emblazoned with “Mellstroy,” Burim’s online alias.
The incident occurred just one minute into the match, halting play as security personnel spent several minutes apprehending the invaders, with one even being tackled by Dortmund midfielder Marcel Sabitzer. The trio now face lengthy stadium bans and have been arrested. Wembley officials condemned the invasion, stating, “It is illegal to enter the field of play at Wembley. We strongly condemn the actions of those who interrupted the Champions League final.”
Despite Dortmund’s strong performance and multiple scoring opportunities, Real Madrid clinched their 15th European trophy with a 2-0 victory. Dani Carvajal scored from a corner, and Vinicius Junior capitalized on a defensive error to secure the win, adding another title to Carlo Ancelotti’s illustrious career.
