Sven-Goran Eriksson, the former Lazio and England manager, made a triumphant return to his former club Lazio under the watchful eye of their eagle mascot. The 76-year-old Swede, who has terminal pancreatic cancer, was cheered by fans in Rome. Eriksson, who led Lazio to a Serie A title, called it “the memory of a lifetime.”

Last month, Eriksson was honored by IFK Goteborg, where he managed from 1979 to 1982, leading them to UEFA Cup glory in 1982. During his return to Goteborg, he received a hero’s welcome at the Gamla Ullevi stadium. Fans chanted and displayed a tifo of a young Eriksson, along with a banner reading, “We don’t know when it will end, but we know when it began.”

Earlier this year, Eriksson visited Benfica, another former club, and managed a Liverpool Legends team for a charity match at Anfield in March. Despite his illness, Eriksson continues to be celebrated for his contributions to football, with his visits evoking deep respect and admiration from fans and former players alike.
