Daniele De Rossi assessed Roma’s season as not disastrous but believed they could have performed better, citing Atalanta as a model to emulate. Taking over as manager in January after Jose Mourinho’s dismissal, the 40-year-old impressed initially, winning six of his first seven league games.

However, Roma’s form dipped later, dropping points against teams like Fiorentina, Lecce, Bologna, and Napoli, resulting in missing out on Champions League qualification.

Reflecting on his first six months, De Rossi expressed a desire to elevate Roma to European competitions but acknowledged the need for correct actions to reach that level.

When asked about aligning his ideas with the club’s, he emphasized teamwork and discussed future plans with the director and staff.

Regarding upcoming challenges, De Rossi emphasized mental preparation and providing players with necessary tools for success, highlighting the need to emulate Atalanta’s attitude both physically and mentally.

De Rossi admitted he did not expect Atalanta to drop points, emphasizing Roma’s need to secure more points throughout the season.

He also mentioned discussions with the club’s owners about planning for the future, including the transfer budget, which he stated would be managed internally.
