Following an emotional farewell to Stefano Pioli, Milan is gearing up to embrace Paulo Fonseca, who is poised to initiate a fresh era at the club.

The Rossoneri bid adieu to their Italian tactician at a packed San Siro on Saturday evening after a thrilling 3-3 draw with Salernitana, marking the conclusion of a five-year tenure in Lombardy during which he clinched a Scudetto and steered the club to the Champions League semi-finals.

Fonseca has long been touted as the leading candidate to succeed Pioli at Milan, triumphing over contenders such as Sergio Conceicao, Julen Lopetegui, and Mark van Bommel. While fans harbour mixed feelings about his imminent appointment, the club’s hierarchy remains resolute in their decision.

Regarding Fonseca’s appointment, today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, on page 18, outlines Milan’s readiness to welcome him following their friendly encounter against Roma in Australia. They are extending either a two-year contract with an option for a third or a three-year deal valued at approximately €3 million net per season.

Technical coach Daniele Bonera will helm the Rossoneri in their friendly on May 31st before Fonseca’s arrival next month, heralding the dawn of a new era at the club.
