The Bundesliga giants have concluded their search for a new coach, nearing an agreement to appoint Vincent Kompany as their next head coach. According to Sky Sports, Bayern Munich will pay Burnley a fee ranging from €10 million (£8m/$11m) to €12m (£10m/$13m) to secure Kompany’s services until 2027.

Kompany, 38, retired from professional football in 2020 after winning four Premier League titles with Manchester City. Following his retirement, he managed Anderlecht for three years before joining Burnley in 2022. In his debut season as manager, he led Burnley to win the Championship and earn promotion to the Premier League, although they were relegated after one season back in the top flight.

Pep Guardiola, who coached Kompany at Manchester City, praised his former player despite Burnley’s relegation this season.

Bayern Munich, who finished third in the Bundesliga and failed to win any trophies in the 2023-24 campaign, hope that Kompany’s appointment will help them improve in the upcoming season.
