Barcelona has sacked club legend Xavi after three years in charge. The Spanish giants confirmed that Xavi will leave the Nou Camp after Sunday’s final match of the season against Sevilla. Fabrizio Romano reports that Hansi Flick is set to be announced as the new head coach next week.

The German has signed a two-year deal and will bring in two compatriots as part of his coaching staff. Xavi, informed of the decision on Friday by President Joan Laporta, had previously announced his intention to leave at the end of the season but reversed his decision last month.

Despite winning a league title and the Spanish Super Cup during his tenure, Barcelona’s financial struggles and a third-place standing 10 points behind Real Madrid led to his departure. Xavi, who played 24 years for Barcelona, making 767 appearances and winning 25 major trophies, leaves with the club set to finish second behind Real Madrid.
