Ipswich Town has offered Kieran McKenna a lucrative new contract worth £5 million annually over the next four seasons to keep him at Portman Road. The highly-rated Northern Irish coach, who led Ipswich to back-to-back promotions, has attracted interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Brighton.

McKenna’s current deal, valued at £1.2 million annually, pales in comparison to Ipswich’s new offer. The Suffolk club is fighting hard to retain him, especially with Brighton expected to make an offer within 24 hours as they seek to replace Roberto De Zerbi. Ipswich’s board believes that keeping McKenna, 38, is crucial for their survival in the top flight next season. The new contract is the most significant offer since Matteo Sereni’s deal in 2001.

McKenna, who has also been in talks with Crystal Palace, could face substantial offers from Manchester United and other Premier League clubs. Manchester United, where McKenna previously served as an assistant coach, has discussed him internally, with Mauricio Pochettino and Ruben Amorim also in the frame for the managerial position.
