Mauricio Pochettino is being considered for the Manchester United manager position, two years after narrowly missing out on the job. Following his mutual departure from Chelsea, INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly interested in holding talks with the former Tottenham boss as Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Old Trafford hangs in the balance.

Pochettino was a leading candidate for the United job in April 2022 while at Paris Saint-Germain but lost out to Ten Hag, who impressed with his deep knowledge of the club. Ten Hag’s first season saw success with a third-place Premier League finish and a Carabao Cup win, but this season has been disappointing, with United finishing eighth and exiting the Champions League group stage. Despite an upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester City, Ten Hag’s future remains uncertain, with Ratcliffe withholding public support.

Pochettino’s exciting style, which led Tottenham to the 2019 Champions League Final, makes him a popular choice among fans. Potential successors at Chelsea include Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna, Leicester’s Enzo Maresca, former Brighton chief Roberto De Zerbi, Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness, Girona boss Hansi Flick, and long-shot candidate Jose Mourinho.
