Gareth Southgate has announced a provisional squad of 33 players, with the final selection to be whittled down to 26 before the tournament kicks off. All roster decisions must be finalized by June 7, just ahead of the friendly matches against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iceland.

In the goalkeeper ranks, Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal), and James Trafford (Burnley) have been included.

Defensive options comprise Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton), Lewis Dunk (Brighton & Hove Albion), Joe Gomez (Liverpool), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Harry Maguire (Manchester United), Jarell Quansah (Liverpool), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United), and Kyle Walker (Manchester City).

Midfielders in contention are Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea), Curtis Jones (Liverpool), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Declan Rice (Arsenal), and Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace).

Forwards listed include Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United), Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), James Maddison (Tottenham Hotspur), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Ivan Toney (Brentford), and Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa).

Noteworthy additions to the squad are midfielders Curtis Jones and Adam Wharton, both yet to earn caps, along with Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. Despite recent limited game time for Manchester United, Harry Maguire retains his place, and Harry Kane is unsurprisingly included despite his current back injury.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is listed as a midfielder, while Jude Bellingham represents Real Madrid in the squad. Forwards Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins are given opportunities to showcase their skills in training.

Sterling misses out on a major tournament for the first time since 2012, and former Liverpool captain Henderson is absent due to injury. Rashford’s inconsistent club form sees him omitted, and Kalvin Phillips is sidelined due to injury and a lack of form during his loan spell at West Ham.

Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell and Levi Colwill don’t make the cut, while Manchester City’s Rico Lewis is considered for future call-ups. Fikayo Tomori continues to wait for his chance.

England’s Euro 2024 campaign kicks off against Serbia on June 16, followed by matches against Denmark and Slovenia in Group C. Southgate aims to improve on England’s Euro 2020 runner-up finish.
