According to reports, Milan continues to prioritize Paulo Fonseca as their top choice for the vacant head coach position, but they have also initiated discussions with Lionel Scaloni, a World Cup winner.

The search for the Rossoneri’s new coach has been ongoing with no clear outcome, leaving fans feeling frustrated and uncertain, especially with Stefano Pioli set to conclude his five-year tenure with the club after two final matches.

Paulo Fonseca, currently with Lille, has emerged as the frontrunner for the Milan job, surpassing contenders such as Sergio Conceicao, Mark van Bommel, and Julen Lopetegui. However, a final decision is yet to be made, adding to the uncertainty as the summer break approaches.

Reports from today’s Gazzetta dello Sport indicate that Milan has been in contact with Lionel Scaloni’s agents, expressing interest in the possibility of hiring the 2022 World Cup winner. However, no direct meeting has taken place yet, and Scaloni will be occupied with the Copa America until July 14th.

Although Fonseca remains at the top of Milan’s list, the club is also considering other candidates like Marcelo Gallardo and Graham Potter. Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri are not being considered, as they are not seen as aligned with the club’s project in Lombardy.
